Flashes of Hope is a national non Profit organization that changes the way children with cancer sees themselves through the gift of Photography and raise money for pediatric cancer research. “Behind the scene”my fellow photographer Scott Farence of ASMP Phoenix took some wonderful pictures as I was completing this assignment. To Alfredo I told him he could fly in his Batman suit, he did smile with pride showing me that he could, for Lakisha, an earring caught up in the hair of her mother brought both of them a big laugh and bubbles floating in the air made Luis in admiration and so amused that an hospital room for an instant had become a joyful playground. Cancer might try to get them down but despite their suffering those infants keep their courage and hope very high. Through the lens I discovered that this terrible sickness cannot beat the inner being of those children and that in fact their spirit were brighter than my flashes.

Awards are judged in committee by consensus of what is known. In other words, what is in fashion. But originality cannot be fashionable, because it hasn’t as yet had the approval of the committee. Do not try to follow the fashion. Be true to your subject and you will be more likely to create something that is timeless (Paul Arden)
My professional photography includes a variety of great assignments for diverse clients. So, along the way, I decided to produce my own project and to get involved in helping various philanthropic organization by creating “THE BLACK CHAIR™“. I started to photograph individual representatives with my Black Chair that I carried along with me as my “special prop”. Then every month I got my latest image published in a local magazine, thus, helping each time a charitable organization to make the public more appreciative of their work.
